Images from a girl's basketball game.. The local team played very hard, but the opposing team prevailed. The local team is very young, with many freshmen and sophomores and only a few seniors. They will improve significantly with experience. They are, however, very enthusiastic and I have never seen them give up.
Tomorrow I cover another wrestling match - this one for the league championship. Friday and Saturday I'm assigned to cover boy's basketball again - a different high school closer to home.
I'm glad to see so many young people participating in sports. They need to do all they can to keep healthy and strong. In our system, there is a strong emphasis on academics as well. Kids can't play unless they maintain a certain academic standing, and there is a competition for academic team champions as well as the regular athletic championships.

Great collection of images the only thing that would make the individual shots of the girl in yellow even better is if you'd managed to catch her feet in the frame....but I am pretty sure shots like this aren't easy to take! :o)
More great sports shots, you're really good at this.
I like the third and the fourth one the most. Good action shots.
